This is called the Ionizer because when used, it directs the ions on the record in one directions thus reducing static charge. The Ioniser will also pick up and remove dust, dirt, etc. from the record surface. The Ionizer is impregnated with a specially formulated permanent anti-static agent. Prior to use remove the filler cover and allow 4-5 drops of [Pfanstat] fluid to enter each hole. This will activate the anti-static agent and creat a humid dampness within the sesillient velvet pad. If Replace filler cover after filling and gently wipe the record to be played in the direction of the grooves 2-3 times while rotating the record on the turntable. (end of literature )

The brush embedded in the handle of this kit could be used for cleaning the velvet pad OR it has soft enough bristles that it could also double as a stylus cleaning brush. If used for that, we would recommend using something else (such as an old, clean, soft bristle tooth brush) for cleaning the pad.
