You can now select the highly prized Shibata cut diamond tip as a replacement for any "212" style. Shibata is the absolute best aftermarket you can get in this "212" body style. The shibata cut will bring out details you never even imagined existed on the record and will clearly bring forth information that is compressed away if you have listened to the same music in mp3 format. This shibata tipped needle made in Japan for BLISS Needles™ will transform any compatible cartridge with a lesser-equipped stylus into a high end playback solution capable of exceptionally faithful, clear and true sound reproduction.

For any type of quadraphonic (4-channel) record playback, be it of the discrete (CD-4) or matrix (SQ) variety, in addition to this quality shibata stylus, the following components of a complete quad system must all be present and in working order:

  1. A Cartridge sold originally as being capable of 4-channel playback.
  2. A Record originally pressed with decodable information for channels 3 and 4 that is still in good condition. A record that is too worn will lose it's ability to provide the high carrier frequency needed for the amp to decode the rear channels even though you may still be able to hear the two primary left and right channels just fine. The record jacket will clearly advertise (brag) about this capability if it is present.
  3. A receiver or amplifier with the needed circuitry which is still functional. Capacitors and edge-connector connections often fail in these circuits leaving them no longer capable of decoding the rear channels 3 and 4.
  4. and of course 4 speakers hooked up correctly and situated in the 4 corners of a standard listening room.

Audio Technica ATN-122LP Type JICO Brand Shibata Stylus - our Needle 212-DSH
Very sensitive, allow tracking force less then 1 gram, much better then elliptic high frequency is amazingly clear, low freq is not so juicy? but more recognizable and precise. Overall the best of its class. Sound the same as Audio-Technica AT150MLX Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge for 300 bucks with less clocking and hissing. Be careful with the needle do not touch it. Holder is very thin.

JICO Brand Shibata Stylus - Excellent quality product.
I bought this for my AT450E cartridge. Firstly, it cost £83.21 to buy. UK customs fee was £16.33 and Royal Mail "handling fee" was £8 - so in total £107.54. It took 7 days to arrive use Turntable needles cheapest posting option. The stylus tracks at a far lower VTF than the other p-mount sylii I use on my AT450E and reveals more detail, very crisp and clear and of course no IGD. Recommended!

Exceeds Expectations!
I wanted to upgrade the stylus in my Audio Technica VS215EP which is installed in a Technics SL-QL1 linear tracking turntable. I was mainly using this turntable with a DBX Disc setup and I wanted the stylus to match that quality. This stylus is better than any options Audio Technica ever offered and not only do my DBX encoded records sound amazing but even regular records have more detail and much tighter bass! It became really noticeable after several hours of play! Now all my records have come alive and I’m rediscovering the music! Much cheaper than a new high end cartridge and I cannot imagine it sounding better! Highly recommended if you have a “p mount” setup which is compatible!
