This is a superb sounding true audiophile cartridge at a great value. If you want the absolute most out of your records, we confidently recommend the AT440MLa without reservation. The specs do not do this cartridge justice. It should play and decode the vast majority of quadraphonic records (with compatible HiFi system). It will lift the maximum amount of audio information out of the grooves to send into your computer for further processing to your taste. Several audiophile forums we found testified that this cartridge, still made in Japan, not China, will not disappoint!

Comes with mounting hardware, brush, screwdriver & hi-end OCC headshell wires for connecting cartridge to your headshell.

Best around in its price range.

Love this cartridge. Had the older AT440ML years ago, but this one is better. As you use it the trebles will get more moderate and you will have a well balanced sound. It also tracks the hardest passages well. Other cartridges would skip where this one plays. I forgot how good a cartridge could be.

Amazing Detail

Some people talk about 'lifting the veil' to me changing to the 440 sounded more like 'lifting a horse blanket' My only criticism, it's very bright, is Vinyl warm tho because the set up may lack detail? Does adding detail in spades make it sound bright? If that's the case, adding in everything that the artist produced, bright really means accurate. The 440 sure is accurate because there is detail by the ton. Overly bright may be the result of poor mastering and not the 440s fault.

Great cartridge

Bought this after reading the positive reviews that praised the AT-440MLa's remarkable tracking ability. I've got a Shure M97x that I like, but it has terrible inner groove distortion. I put this 440 on and that harsh distortion melts away. I was so pleased that I bought a second 440MLa. Very crisp sound. Yes, it's bright, but very clean. Very pleased.

At440MLa Audio-Technica Cartridge

Got it recently and used now for about 30hrs since I installed it on my vintage Pioneer turntable. Very nice cartridge, well built and nice sounding. In fact, I discovered details that I never heard before on my vinyl using my previous cartridges.

Brilliant.

From the moment I hooked this up with supplied leads I could hear the difference. I've only been using it for less than 24 hours however the soundstage has expanded beyond my expectations with a lot more detail and clarity. I am looking forward to experiencing more revelations as the unit breaks in. I highly recommend this cartridge. Well done, A.T.

excellent service and excellent catridge..

installed and aligned cartridge in about 5 minutes was immediatly blown away with how crisp and clean the music sounded, tried some albums that sound terrible with my ortofon 2m bronze.. completely eliminated issues with IGD and sibilance issues.. haven't found the cartridge too bright which apparently is a common complaint, sounds incredibly balanced and warm, this cart destroys my 2m bronze it wont be going back in my setup. .

I got so much more

Gato Cat I ordered one on Monday, and I am now listening with it on as we speak. HOLY CRAP I am completely blown away. Had I heard this in a store I would have laid out $500 + for it. This thing tracks so well and it plays bass and highs so cleanly and perfectly. It has fixed any problems with IGD and it cuts right through songs I had previously given up hope on and had deemed problem tracks. I don't think I will go to bed tonight cuz I can't stop listing to vinyl now. Thank you so much!

440mla... 5stars...roller cleaner.. 1/2 star

ive had this cartridge before...U CANT GO WRONG WITH IT!!!...No inner groove distortion at all...very good sound..in fact awesomw sound..this is a no brainer...alos bought the record groove roller cleaner..at 1st thought it was great...well be warned it can also ruin your records....it actually can increase noise and static on your records after use...it also ruined a mint copy of a hard to get album..USE WITH CAUTION..waste of 19.95 in my opinion

Worth the Upgrade!

I bought this as an upgrade to the AT120E and what a difference! The Nude square Micro-Linear stylus is superior to the Nude Elliptical as it closer to the way the LP was originally cut. It's much quieter and after using the HI-FI NEWS - TEST LP PRODUCER'S CUT to align it I hear everything I didn't before. You won't be disappointed and they have the best price for it.

AT 144mla

Purchased this cartridge based on reviews here and from sites like audioasylum and audiokarma. I think the 144mla is everything the reviews have stated. It doesn't quite track as well as my Shure V15/III with Jico but from a sound perspective it is comparable if not better in many ways. I am completely satisfied with it especially for the price.

quality sound

I recently bought Audio Technica 440MLa.I installed it on my dual 505-2 very easy.I must say that the sound is amazing much better than i expected.I don t have to get into techical details just trust me the sound is great.The Audio Technica 440MLa is a great cartridge and the price is very good.I m very satisfied with my purchase.

AT440MLa

I replaced the cartridge on my Rega Planar III turntable with the AT440MLa and after careful set up & alignment etc I played a few of my favourite albums. The AT440MLa provides amazing audio clarity. This cartridge absolutely proves that vinyl is far superior than any cd.

GREAT CARTRIDGE. I MOUNTED IT OVER A REGA P2 AND INNER GROOVE DISTORTION DISSAPEARED: EQUAL HI FI SOUND IN OUTER AND INNER GROOVES. FAR BETTER PERFORMANCE THAN REGA BIAS2 CARTRIDGE.

AT440MLa Review

Bought this as an upgrade to My Thorens TD318 with standard arm. Super impresed at the results. Clarity and detail are markedly improved and I have really enjoyed the sound. As a Thorens upgrade I can only recommend it.

AT 440 Mla

Price was one of the big factors in buying this cartridge.Turntable needles.com has the lowest price of anyone.I was expecting this cartridge to sound better then my AT 132E but not THAT much better.I can hear things like voices clearer then ever before.I have it on the Denon 300 table. Would I recomend this cartridge? With out a doubt yes!!!

At440MLa Audio-Technica Cartridge

Item arrived in perfect conditions. The sound of this cartridge is beautiful, clear and balanced, great sound, not that bright as other users suggest. I'm very happy with this product. Totally recommended!

at440mla on Pioneer PL-560 and PL-L1000

This is my 3rd purchased AT cartridge as started out with the 120EIII. This was purchased to put on my top of the line tangential tone arm pioneer. I have the AT150ML on my primary PL-560 and it kicks the moving coil competitors both sonically and by stats. The difference in price and soundstage led me back to the at440mla as cannot see a very big difference in frequency response. Astounding cartridge and must be set up correctly to appreciate.

At440MLa Cartridge

Quite simply the best thing I ever did for my vinyl. Forty year old records sound better than I've ever heard them previously, even on a low-end turntable. can't recommend this enough.
