The AT70 is obsolete.  We instead recommend the AT3600CF

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a limited time when you select the 1st option "OEM Genuine (As Pictured Above) " we are shipping the AT72E cartridge with the ATN71 conical stylus.  This is a slight upgrade of both the cartridge and the needle and includes a clip-on stylus protection guard to protect the tip when not in use.

The AT70 is the next notch up from the best selling AT3600(aka AT91B)  1/2" mount cartridge. Audio Technica, a quality brand name has made this available as solid upper entry level replacement. It will get that old turntable up n running quickly. Virtually the same cartridge has been sold with and as original equipment across dozens of brands. for decades now. Rest assured if a search has brought you here this is the upper entry level solution for 1/2" mount turntables regardless of the brand. The corresponding needle that it comes with is our stock # 206, one of our top 20 products.

Because this cartridge is mounted on the the headshell with two vertically mounted screws, side by side, 1/2" apart, it is known as a 1/2" mount cartridge. Other mounting characteristics are that it has 4 exposed wires in the back and is almost never found on a linear tracking turntable.

Notes:
The headshell is the hardware attached to the end of the tonearm that is usually distinguished by the 'handle' that sticks out to the right for lifting the tonearm over to the record from the rest position. If your turntable is linear tracking it means the whole tonearm slides several inches from side to side as opposed to the standard type usually designated 'straight' or 'S shaped' which pivots on a stationary 'hub' assembly at the right rear corner of the turntable. A linear tracking turntable will generally have buttons you must operate to move the tonearm and will almost always be found with a (T4P) Pmount cartridge. (Go back up one category and click on Pmount).

Myth:
Often people think they must have a brand of cartridge that matches their turntable brand. This is totally unecessary and often impossible to achieve these days. In fact, the vast majority of turntable manufacturers, had a third party cartridge manufacturer make the cartridge on their behalf. Also, cartridge wiring connections usually go straight to your amplifier, receiver or computer thus allowing the turntable to make no direct electrical changes to the cartridge output signal.

at72e cartridge
just received it. i had this cart in 1980. then i needed a cart that was better sounding than my sears one. i had a belt drive with a stock cart that was just horrible. bought an at70 with the yellow needle. wow! what a difference! i love the way this thing sits under the hsh. its so cool looking. all my tts have point to point t.arm wireing. fixed hshell. thus i end up with maximum perfomance. recomended on any tt.

Skeptical
when I first ordered it I had some misgivings about this product. Now that I've tried it I'm impressed. Sound quality is clear and tracking ability is excellent, better than others I've tried in the past.

This product lives up to the advertising. If it exhibits longevity, then I have nothing but good things to comment. Service and shipping were exceptiona and noteworthy. I would do business again with this company.
