Audio Technica AT120Eb Phono Cartridge
There is a new version of this discontinued model which is the VM530EN it is exactly the same, they simply renamed the cartridge so it would make sense in their new VM lineup. Here is your chance to get a nice savings simply due to older packaging.
The Audio Technica AT120Eb's polished "NUDE" (Natural Diamond) tip is the premier secret to it's amazing sound. The diamond is 'grain oriented' meaning it is mounted in such a way so as to provide the maximum life to the diamond stylus and your records. We believe it's detail and clarity are extremely hard if not impossible to match at this price point in today's marketplace. From Audio-Technica: The AT120EB moving magnet cartridge features Audio-Technica™ Vector-Aligned Dual Magnet design and exclusive Paratoroidal Signal Generator. This unique signal generating system is composed of a unified, laminated coil core wound with a single piece of wire. Internal mechanical and electrical connections are eliminated, minimizing magnetic losses and ensuring better signal transfer.
The AT120Eb is the latest incarnation of the discontinued AT120E and AT120E/II cartridges.
If you need a headshell, the AT120Eb is also available pre-mounted on your choice of a black or silver headshell, creating a 'plug n spin' kit.
This cartridge is fitted with LC-OFC lead wires (Linear-Crystal Oxygen-Free Copper) which is a highly refined copper material free of oxidizing agents and other impurities. A special process is used to elongate the lattice structure of the material to minimize the number of crystals in a given length of the wire. For example in standard copper wire there are more than 150,000 crystal boundaries for every meter length of wire. The LC-OFC process reduces this number to 20 (1/7,500th of 150k standard) The result is a startling drop in transmission losses and distortion across these boundaries. Signal transfer efficiency is improved, and linearity is maintained even for extremely low signal levels. The use of LC-OFC wire assures that the fidelity of the signal reproduced by Audio Technica's high quality cartridges is transferred to the amplifier stage without modification.
