Actually, it weights almost 1 and 1/2 pounds, but really helps refining the sound of your vinyl. Recommended specially for direct driven turntables; I would not use it on belt driven ones as the passive traction needs more torque perhaps beyond its design due to the extra weight it represents for the belt, a note of caution about it in this case.

This thing is fabulous! I wasn't sure about it when I ordered it , but, I'm glad I did. It seems the added mass really, and, I do mean mass really stabilized the stability of my turntable!
