Consider our Disco Antistat Record Washer for better value and performance vs. the Spin-Clean Record Washer.

From www.knosti.de : (translated)
The Disco-Ansistat kit consists of:
  • Wash housing basin with permanent goat hair brushes.
  • Label protecting clamshell with axis for 7"(45rpm large hole), 10", and 12" records. (Not for 16" records)
  • Filtered funnel to allow re-use of your cleaning fluid if desired.
  • Drip-dry rack with catch basin for up to 15 records of any size. (see video for tips)

SHIPPING: Int'l orders outside the USA, you must select "US Priority Mail Intl LARGE BOX" during checkout.

From Us:
If you are not sure that a cleaning brush will do the job and don't want to jump up to a $500 or $2000 vacuum cleaning machine then this solution deserves strong consideration. The Disco-Antistat Record Washing System is made in Germany.  We do include the fluid. OR you can mix your own solution by reading this >>>> Record Cleaning Devices and Fluids <<<< article. With a trip to your local hardware store you can mix your own expert-sourced solution for far less. Many caution against "rubbing" alcohol because some brands might contain a sort of lanolin grease.

Please Note:
  • We include free Priority Mail in USA only.
  • Original fluid is included
  • 78rpm (non-vinyl) shellac or lacquer records require alcohol-free cleaning fluid. For shellac or lacquer, alcohol = instant death.
  • 78's can be cleaned with a few drops of plain (no additives) Ivory or Ajax dish liquid with distilled water.
  • We added an O-ring seal option above to help protect the label if desired. The Spin-Clean Record Washer has moderate protection of the label against solution falling/dripping down onto the label as the record rotates. The clamp included in the Disco-Antistat kit provides incidental protection for 90% of the label. Adding our two round belts to the groove around the clamp presses the round belts right up against the record and seals the label for 99% protection of the label. If the belt-sealed clamp is taken off immediately after removing the record from the cleaning solution, some solution may still drip down on the label. Use good judgement.
  • Unlike the other guys, the brushes cannot be swapped out. In the unlikely event that the goat hair brushes wear out, as of the time of this writing (Nov. 2010) the basin alone can be special ordered separately. Rotate the records both clock and counter-clockwise. This prevents the hairs from potentially becoming matted down. (we have not observed this occur in our limited use.) Some have observed the foam in the felt pad of the other guys will collapse or compress.
  • Unlike the other guys, the bottom of the basin is free of nooks n crannies to provide trouble-free cleanup.
  • The factory set gap between the brushes is proper for normal record thickness. It will be more difficult to rotate a 180 gram record.
  • Unlike the other guys, this kit does not have drying cloths because alcohol based solutions with a drying rack can air dry. This avoids possibly introducing cloth particulates back on the record.
  • Kit is probably not dishwasher safe!
  • For a more detailed write-up on the subject of cleaning records we found this page to be very good.
  • Free wetting agent - The rarest part of the make your own formula. (see below)
We recommend:

  • Using the Disco-Ansistat kit in a well ventilated area.
  • Use coffee filters in the provided funnel if you choose to re-use your solution.
  • Make your own cleaning solution per above link. (Label and store it carefully/wisely/cautiously.)
  • Use only distilled or reverse osmosis water in your solution and for rinsing off the kit when done.
  • If you got this far, watch the video below before purchase.
From Us:

Again, knosti concentrate now included but we still include all you need for a DIY formula. Why pay $30 for a quart of extra cleaner from the "yellow" crew? Here is a typical ingredient list you can mix for a proven effective formula. See write-up below for links to more solutions.

  • 2 quarts distilled (not demineralized) water from grocery/drug/automotive store. (Supplied by end-user)
  • quart denatured alcohol (a.k.a. ethanol) from hardware, paint store etc (Supplied by end-user) https://www.lowes.com/search?searchTerm=denatured%20alcohol
  • [OPTIONAL] 0.25 to 0.5 quarts isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol (Supplied by end-user)
  • 30 drops of liquid detergent such as Ivory dish soap etc. (Supplied by end-user)
  • A few drops of wetting agent (included FREE in this kit courtesy turntableneedles.com)

Disco Antistat
I bought this to clean a few of my old records that I got used. Some were quite dusty and really needed a good cleaning. Overall this system works great, the only complaint I have is that some of the cleaning solution seeps by the cups and gets on the label. Most of the labels dried up and you couldn't tell, but on white labels you got a 1/4" wide ring of water damage on the outer edge of the label. It cleans the records very well, it takes all the dust and fingerprints right off the vinyl. [webmaster note: this customer did not choose the optional label protecting O-rings]

Best Price on a Very Effective P
A 50% solution of Distilled Water and 91% Isopropyl Alcohol works just fine. Don't spend extra money on the O-rings. They don't fit. Records without scratches will be almost noise free! It removes almost all of the scraping, "crackeling" sound. It doesn't fix pops and clicks from scratches, but it makes listening to dirty vinyl a thing of the past!

Knosti Disc-Antistat
Very good record cleaning system! But I have modified the procedure as follows: 1. Use my own home-brew cleaning fluid (75% distilled water, 25% IP alcohol, 12-15 drops Dawn), and throw mixture away after each cleaning session. 2. Rinse each record after cleaning. 3. Dry off record by blotting with clean, terrycloth towel first, then blotting with microfiber cloth, then drying in rack for 15-30 minutes. Works very well!

RECORD NUT
OUT STANDING DEVICE. WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. HAD A FLOOD AND SOME OF MY LP's HAD GOTTEN THE WORSE FOR IT. HAD TO THROUGH AWAY THE COVERS AND INNER SLEEVES.RECORDS WERE DIRTY AND STARTING TO MOLD.THIS DEVICE WORKED FANTASTIC. HAD TO DE-STATIC THEM WITH A RECORDING CLEANING BRUSH I HAVE AND THEY SOUNDED GREAT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS DEVICE TO ANYONE WHO NEEDED TO CLEAN VERY DIRTY ALBUMS.

Economical way to clean vinyl
Great product. Big sound difference having clean vinyl!!! Turntable Needles seems to be the only seller in USA for this product. Link for homemade cleaning solutions was very helpful and a cheaper way to go. I'm using 3 distilled waters to 1 denatured and a couple drops ivory mild soap. O rings work very well, only complaint, could probably find em at the hardware store for about $1 each. Less cleaning $ = more music

Knosti Disco Antistat
I love this thing! It really works and cleans most records nicely. Some really dirty birds needs a couple of rounds but it is a good thing to have if serious about vinyl.

Maybe a little flimsy
The part that holds the record so it can be spun in the cleaning mixture does not inspire confidence. It seems to me that the threads crossed improperly quite often.

Seems like it works - The fluid shows the removed dirt
This a well constructed, no-frills record cleaner. I mixed up a batch of my own fluid A'La Keith Monks. I spun a few platters through and was amazed at how much goop was floating around afterward! Now I know why they supply the filters for fluid re-use. It's a bit of a messy mess when you do it but it's enjoyable (kinda like eating crabs) so have a space set aside and do a large batch of LP's at once. I use a micro-fiber towel to dry the LP. The rack is nice to finish off with an air dry.
