Dec 2006 "gone forever"....Dec 2008 revived from the ashes!
While the genuine stylus assembly is still gone, we do have a large number of original genuine EDR9 cartridges still available. With much research behind us, we are now confident to present our 239-DshibataEDR stylus. It's a stylus that will be available well into the future and being the best money can buy in this body style, it's the only one (besides the OEM needle) that we believe is worthy to be married to the EDR.9 body.
As you can see from the above photo, the new solution does not hug the curves of the EDR.9, but we have trimmed the stylus grip ever so slightly to allow it to fully seat.
This cartridge sold new for $200.(equal to perhaps as much as $500 worth of today's buying power as a result of inflation). The EDR= "Extended Dynamic Range", was a highly saught after cartridge from the 1980's. We no longer have OEM genuine spare needles for this. We do have a few genuine Empire alternative solutions in the related products section below. Like our modern solution they don't look the same as the original needle but they do fit and work. The 238's are quad ready!

SPECIAL! Try it risk free. If you don't like the sound, return it in like new condition within 7 days for a 100% refund.

Empire EDR9 OEM body
I owned an original practically new EDR9 and managed to push in a pin, breaking an internal wire and rendering it worthless. However, I did keep the (rare as hens teeth) stylus... Thanks to Turntable Needles I am again enjoying this (imho) fabulous cartridge. I have no present need for the Jico Shibata needle [yet] but expect that at the asking price, it makes seriously enjoyable music, or something like that! Highly endorsed and great compyna to deal with! Cheers! John

EDR9
Dear all. at first thanks for your shopping service! I am very happy with EDR9 . My opinion EDR 9 is best needle if we compare the price and result . Just one note in this product , there is missing some clear description or navigation to connect it with the headshell . thanks Radek
