LKG Riaa Turntable Phono Pre-Amp

FROM THE MANUFACTURER:
This high quality stereo preamplifier will allow you to replace a Crystal or ceramic stereo cartridge with a better quality magnetic stereo cartridge while using the original stereo amplifier supplied with your turntable. The use of the preamplifier in conjunction with a magnetic cartridge will give you CD quality sound out of your vintage turntable.

Solid State Moving Magnet Stereo Phono Preamplifier

How To Install
1). Connect shielded cable from the record changer to the appropriate input jacks on the PRE600.
2). Connect the other shielded cable from the out put jacks on the PRE600 to the high level inputs on the amplifier. On a stereo amplifier these will be marked crystal, ceramic or AUX.
3). Plug the line cord into any 117V AC outlet. Even though the power requirement of the PRE600 is very low, it is recommended that unplug the AC cord if you do not plan to use it for a long period of time.
4). NOTE: If your changer is equipped with a ground lead, connect it to the amplifier chassis, not the preamplifier.

Troubleshooting for all preamps:

Are you getting a 60hz hum when the phono preamp is hooked into your receiver/computer?

  • Make sure it is NOT hooked into a 'PHONO' input it is designed to hook into 'TAPE CD AUX' etc inputs!
  • Make sure your house outlet is grounded properly with a little 3 PRONG plugin tester from radio shack or a hardware store.
  • Make sure you are connecting the third grounding wire coming out of the turntable to the external METAL framework of your receiver or computer.
  • If you get a loud hum when hookin up only the preamp to your receiver/computer, this does not indicate a fault in the RCA preamp. Many electronic circuits require something called 'termination' When the inputs of an amp or preamp are 'floating' then the output will reflect this.

This RCA to 3.5mm plug is what you will need for your computer hookup.

Typical Preamp connection to a computer soundcard. And here it is in action!

We also have a regular 'RCA' to 'RCA' patch cord to connect the output of the pre-amp to your stereo. If you don't have any additional 'RCA' type stereo patch cords sitting around you may wish to have us send one along with your new preamp. Just $2 will save you some lookin or a trip to the store.

LKG Phono Pre Amp
You won't find a phono pre-amp for this price that doesn't need a "wall wart" . It has a direct connection to your wall inlet. Plus it sounds good enough to playback you old vinyl. Noise floor is very low. The only negative is that it doesn't have a designated ground, however; with a little ingenuity, one can attached your ground to any number of screws on the chassis.

LKG RIAA Turntable Phono PreAmp
I purchased the LKG RIAA Turntable Phono PreAmp and the Stop-a-Clicks-II cleaner. I am now able to listen to my collection of classical recordings with remarkable clarity. I am very thankful for the help and advice of Kyle in the customer service department. I would recommend Turntable Needles to anyone who still enjoys listening to LPs.

Gooder
Turntable Needles .com was extremely helpful in selecting a cratridge and stylus . The order arrived quickly and without any incorrect items. The preamp is a good unit and sounds finer than frog hair .

Had hoped for a little better sound but for the price I couldn't go too wrong. I have to educate myself better to decide if I want to upgrade. Over all I'm satisfied.

Can't beat the price
You're not going to beat this quality until you get into several hundred dollar preamps, so it's hard to complain about this $30 one. People experiencing hum may want to connect their TT's ground to one of the screws on the preamp case, that eliminated it for me. Fairly warm, full sound. I'd recommend this to anyone just getting started.

Works great
Bought this for my daughter who discovered that her parent's old LPs are "cool". Had an old stereo whose phono input had lost a channel so needed a pre-amp to be able to use the Aux input. Great value and works just fine. Nice to hear the old LPs again.

Preamp
I purchased this to boost the signal going from my turntable to my studio monitors. Works great! Sound is clear and I barely have to crank the volume on my monitors for it to be loud.
