Ortofon OMB10 Phono Pickup Cartridge

Our standard (not "super") Ortofon OMB-10 Cartridge comes with the STY-10 stylus and is equal to the OM-10 also made by Ortofon which is supplied  stock on many popular brands of turntables such as Pro-Ject, Dual, Rega & Thorens.  The B simply stands for bulk nothing else. So, it is delivered to us exactly as it would be shipped to a turntable manufacturer.  So this cartridge will come to you in our house brand packaging. But the cartridge and needle is 100% genuine Ortofon and includes the slip-on stylus protector.

The "SUPER"  cartridges shown below  not only come in the factory packaging but also sports significant internal design improvements that allow them to fully accommodate every aspect of the improved performance that the STY-20, STY-30, or STY-40 has over the STY-10.  The cartridge bodies of the SUPER OM10, SUPER OM20, SUPER OM30 & SUPER OM40 are all the same, only the stylus changes.  The cartridge body of this OMB10 is NOT of the "SUPER" variety.  This means that it is not capable of passing along every possible aspect of the improved performance that the STY-20, STY-30, or STY-40 has over the STY-10, BUT if you do decide to later upgrade your OM10 cartridge in the future with an STY-20, STY-30, or STY-40  it will  still noticeably improve your sounds performance. .

Unfortunately I broke my sumiko blue point and couldn't afford to replace it. I actually bought two of these for 2different TTs. They are certainly listenable and had no trouble setting them up. Of course there are some differences. If you are starting out in vinyl with the ortofon , then you will find it perfectly adequate. The various iterations of the ortofon om10 will serve you well up to the point where you are willing to spend well north of $400 on a MC cartridge.
