Ortofon Super OM40 BLISS Plug-n-Spin Kit | Limited Stock

The super OM was Ortofon's best of the OM series with the best internal components for superior sound.  Only OM cartridges marked super OM can bring out the finest clarity details not possible on Ortofon's OM and OMB cartridges.   As pictured above, this is our Ortofon Super OM40 cartridge plug~n~spin kit;  assembled in house of all 100% genuine Ortofon components minus our own BLISS headshell and wiring.

Although Ortofon has discontinued their Super OM series cartridges, we have a limited supply of N.O.S. (New Old Stock) Genuine Ortofon Super OM cartridges. We install a new current production Genuine Ortofon Stylus 40 as our technician inspects the cartridge prior to shipment. Unlike their new 2M series, the Super OM series remains 100% compatible with virtually all known standard mount tonearms as of press time. So the Super OM series remains a popular choice for any quality standard mount tonearm.  As always, a brass weight can be removed inside the cartridge, making the OM series compatible with ULM Ultra Low Mass tonearms offered by Dual.  Includes 1 year USA based warranty.

The Super OM40 moving magnet cartridge is the marriage of a the top of the line Ortofon Stylus 40 with the series constant Super OM cartridge. So, if you start with a Super OM cartridge mated with a 10, 20 or 30 stylus you can upgrade the stylus to a #40 and you will have this Super OM 40 cartridge. Or, you can save money in the long run by starting here, at the top with the Super OM 40.

From Legacy Ortofon Literature:
The Ortofon Super OM Cartridges
OM Series- The new Super OM cartridges have been designed on the basis of Ortofon's lightweight moving magnet system - originally introduced in the OM (Optimum Match) Series - with two major refinements. By means of advanced computer simulation methods, it has been possible to define the natural pivot point of the system with unprecedented accuracy while achieving an optimum oscillation balance. This translates into improved linearity, higher channel separation, and reduced distortion.

In addition, Ortofon has succeeded in developing a technique by which to slit the less than 1 mm diameter hollow pole pins, thus significantly reducing eddy current losses caused by magnetic hysteresis. This sophisticated technology extends the frequency range and improves phase linearity. The cartridge body is manufactured from a Noryl plastic/glass combination, which ensures high rigidity, and freedom from resonances.

How do I adjust tracking pressure and anti skate?
If you are lucky enough to have these two adjustments, move tracking force counter weight until the needle hovers perfectly balanced above the record. Now rotate the dial with numbers (not the weight itself) to zero. (this is zero grams pressure on record) then rotate weight AND numbers together to the recommended tracking pressure for your needle. Then rotate anti skate to have a setting of equal value. Basically you want the least amount of needle pressure pushing down on the record as possible without it skipping or sounding bad. That will give you the longest life from your needle and records.

NOTE: Anti skate is adjusting side to side pressure WITHIN GROOVE of record. Tracking pressure is how hard the needle is pushing down inside the groove.

If your tonearm has a height-adjustable base, make sure the arm is parallel with the record surface.
