The players in which this needle is found are equipped with an "electronic eye" that sees the blank area on the record between sound tracks. Consequently, the cartridge cannot be changed because the sensor is built into the cartridge/headshell. This needle is designed only for this type of setup. Sadly, this stylus was only ever made as an entry level conical offering. This is why we are very pleased to now offer this elliptical stylus to bring your player up to 21st century standards.
