This is an aftermarket universal replacement for any Ortofon VMS, FF & MF cartridge as found in our 539 & 540 type families. Normally, you must be very careful to make sure the "keyed" plastic shaft that goes into the cartridge matches the socket on the front of the cartridge correctly. Note that Ortofon did not mark part numbers on these various cartridge series so once the original needle is removed it is easy to lose track of what cartridge you had. But now, with this needle's universally shaped "H-hourglass" guide shaft, it fits all VMS, FF & MF series cartridges correctly.
