VN5HE type elliptical review

I am new to vinyl and just got my second turntable, a dual 721 with Shire type V cartridge. It needed a new stylus as it did not have one and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on one not knowing if the TT worked. So I bought this one. I had a old Manual Thosiba TT that had a pretty old grado cartridge on it. I do not think that this new stylus sounds any better than the old grado one. Could be the TT as well, but I feel it this stylus sounds a bit bright. Maybe it needs some break in time. Great price though, can’t find cheaper

Perfect!

Works perfectly as a replacement for my Shure V15 Type V which had been in mothballs for 20 years.

temporary substitute

This cart is a temporary substitute for the VN5HE. The HE was out of stock at the time so had to make due with something else. I thought I'd give this one a try. It has a very small conventional/elliptical diamond. It's seems to work best on older worn (& dirty) records since the stylus doesn't penetrate as much. So those older albums aren't as noisy when played. I'll wear this baby down and eventually repalce it with VN5MR or VN5HE type.
