Introducing Audio-Technica's new OC9/III cartridge.

The OC9/III replaces the critically acclaimed OC9/II. Building on the enduring reputation of its predecessor, the OC9/III features a special line contact stylus embedded into a low profile solid boron cantilever, ensuring the music signals read by the tip of the stylus are transmitted reliably to the coils.

The OC9's "VC mould" design ensures stability and rigidity whilst the dual moving coil offers Excellent stereo separation and improved frequency response for long lasting performance.

The use of PCOCC wire (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting), a special copper with virtually no transverse crystal barriers to impede signal transmission, perfects the performance of the advanced
dual coil design.

    AT-OC9/III Moving MicroCoil Cartridge
    I recently fitted a AT-OC9/III Moving MicroCoil Cartridge to my 44 year old Dual 1219 turntable. I am delighted with the results. No surface noise from the records, wonderful air, staging and focus. Convincing slam and gravity in the bass. Sparkling trebles with clean high frequencies. This is a superb cartridge. It has my unreserved recommendation. Interconnects Kimber.

    Great value!
    Moved from my 10+ year old AT OC9ML/II which was serving great duty until my housekeeper snapped off the cantilever, but it was probably getting due anyways... Had a hard time deciding between repurchase of the OC9ML/II or the new OC9/III. The II still probably represents the better value with the gold plated boron cantilever and micro line stylus (don't let the model designation fool you here, the III uses a more "traditional" line contact stylus). Also in consideration was the Hana EL but since I had no easy way to audition it, I stayed with the AT. Ultimately I went with the III, since reviews led me to believe it is voiced slightly differently than the II, without sounding quite so "etched". That is my initial feeling on this cartridge - it is very quiet, tracks very well without the extreme level of detail of the II, which can sound a little overdone depending on your system. Transient detail and dynamics are still there in spades, bass is tight if not particularly deep, and sound stage is fully fleshed out. Great cartridge for the money, thus far. Needs more break in to be fully sure. PREAMP: Threshold FET 9 - 60 db gain, 100 ohm/50 pf load TABLE: AR ETL-1 ARM: Rega RB-300
