Nice Sonic Upgrade!
I just finished replacing my DSN-81 on my Denon, having chosen the elliptical upgrade stylus, DSN-81E, over the original conical version. Just as I had been told by turntableneedles.com, no weight modification nor skating adjustment was needed for its use on my phonograph, a Denon DP-26F, and just as I had read in the description, it DID represent a sound quality upgrade! The stylus installation was easy; I simply slid out the old conical diamond stylus with the new elliptical one, the "Bliss" DSN-81E, designed to ride truer in the groove and thus to ensure more "presence" i.e., a fuller, more accurate sound. The before/after difference was (is) so great that it must be due to more than the newness of the needle. Although I bought my low-budget Denon turntable at a time when it was nearly the only model still on the market (vinyl records were being "phased out" for CDs -- now we have the opposite situation!), I nonetheless find it quite capable of reproducing music accurately, especially when equipped with the surprising Bliss DSN-81E! Yes, the original-design replacement needle (DSN-81) is available here, also, at about half the cost... but I recommend spending just a little more for the elliptical stylus! I hear a strong, appreciable difference in the music (at all frequencies), and I am ecstatic! Plus, the folks at turntableneedles.com have proven to be knowledgeable, courteous and efficient! Nicely done, my "new" friends; I proudly will recommend you to others!
