NOTE: Because this needle is designed for use specifically with SHURE cartridges, it can be found in numerous brands of turntables. In some cases the cartridges for this needle may be original equipment supplied with a new turntable, but was also likely to have been selected at time of sale to complete a turntable sold without a cartridge or later as an upgrade to the original cartridge supplied by the turntable manufacturer. This needle should be matched primarily to the SHURE cartridge type not necessarily the turntable.

BUYER BEWARE! We are noticing "cheap" versions of this needle around the internet from 2nd tier vendors who's regular practice is to copy (steal) our copyrighted descriptions and carefully acquired cross reference data and sometimes sell an inferior product as if it were the same as ours but cheaper. We believe this is one such case of many. In our buying experience around the world, the universal mark manufacturers around the world have come to adopt to signify that a tip is indeed elliptical, is a black dot on the aluminum cantilever to differentiate it from the entry-level conical tip or high end cuts. This black dot Supersedes the color of the plastic grip for the purpose of indicating the tip type. Since as of this writing Dec. 2010 the dot does not exist in the images these vendors provide we must conclude they are providing an entry-level conical tip in an elliptical-colored plastic body. (yellow in this case). Or, that they are selling an entry level elliptical (0.4 x 0.7 mil, probably unpolished tip) from a manufacturer that does not adhere to the international "black dot" standard as we call it. An unpolished diamond tip will have an orange peel appearance under 200x magnification. Eventually an unpolished tip does become polished......at your expense, as it is played on your irreplaceable vinyl.

N55E stylus
I am delighted with the stylus you so speedily sent me. It has renewed my interest in playing my records. It tracks at .75 gram and the sound quality is, to my ears, perfect. Thank you.

Mr.
Experimenting with my set up. Technics turntable, Panasonic cartridge, Worfdale speakers, Onkyo receiver/amp. I'm just getting into finer nuances of my Audio. At this stage the N55e sounds very clean.

Best generic yet
I've tried a number of generics in the last 20 years of collecting 45s. This is the first (and so far only) stylus to match the compliance of the original Shure (I have several for comparison). Most generics break-up or have trouble tracking the loudest mono singles...this one doesn't...

Great M55e
It must been over 30 years since I last heard the M55e on my turntable. There were comments that this was a low end cart by Shure. Thankfully, Turntableneedles still carry a replacement stylus. When I first received the needle I thought it looks weird.... more like a hook than a stylus. Setting up on a direct drive Denon with 10in arm, the music from M55e brought back so much memories. Musical and full bodied music. Tracking is superb and quality is second to none. Thanks again!

What is old sounds new again
Have tried a couple cheap stylus that claimed to meet cartridge spec but LP sound was distorted and muffled. With this correct spec stylus my old 1950’s and early ‘60’s Jazz LP’s sound great. Thanks.

Good Product
I received it just in time before I left for my annual vacation. I'm going to give it to my father's old Pioneer Turntable which has the Shure M55E catridge installed. I gave it to him but there's still some work to on the turntable, I'll just make a follow-up how it turns out.
