We are extremely excited to present, for the first time ever, an aftermarket solution to the decades-long Sony SH-151 headshell shortage. If you are here then you know! Now, let's jump right into all the good news. Oh yes we have made improvements:)

Standard Improvements

Four spring loaded rear contacts. In case you have a spring or contact issue inside your tonearm socket, our pins might "auto fix" some contact issues.
Widened resin finger lift for strength and looks while keeping that classic 80s look. Finger lifts on both plastic and aluminum OEM designs sometimes failed.
Asymmetrical side supports to reduce resonant frequencies and increase structural integrity. (similar to the Sony plastic SH-94) see pics.
Four modern 2 inch color coded silver plated socket lead wires.
Added star pattern to the conical flare that holds the aluminum barrel to the shell body for a more secure fit.
One year warranty against factory defect. Excludes return postage.
About 0.875 grams lighter than the original SH-151 aluminum shell. See specs tab for weight info.

All standard features above plus...
Includes bottom lock pin for better than OEM lock collar security; think perfect azimuth. Whether your top slot worn or not, your Sony Turntable deserves our deluxe upgrade; Sony made two tonearm socket slots but one shell lock pin! This is the only two pin 6mm plug headshell ever made.
Added 0.875 grams of "goop" to absorb unwanted reflective harmonic frequencies. Non-toxic, non-staining, never dries out. It will always have a tacky feel and be malleable which are necessary properties.
Added large shrink tube around existing wire sockets at headshell plug end for a second layer of strain relief similar to OEM wire harness but not user-replaceable.

Aluminum:

Available by phone as a plug-n-spin kit (with cartridge) only.
Aluminum was the original dream in 2019. We started to CNC them one by one. Each one took hours of babysitting the CNC machine, then we lost our in house CNC tech, then, the big sickness thing. Basically we lost our shirt on the aluminum version. We have a couple handfuls available as plug~n~spin kits with a new audiophile cartridge of your choosing. If you want a high end cartridge with a real aluminum shell we will install and align it as a complete kit and include a lifetime warranty on the shell, wiring and assembly. Call us to choose a cartridge and get a custom quote. Keep in mind, it's just plain aluminum cut to the original size and shape of the SH-151 on a machine. It ain't purdy but it will be bulletproof and function just like the OEM Sony did plus, plus of course, you'll get that exclusive two locking pin upgrade.

A-4505-068-A (includes headshell with XL-200 cartridge built in and genuine Sony ND-200G needle)
If you have an original Sony VL-5 cartridge, it uses our needle type 209 as shown in related products section below.
Historically the SH-151 sometimes became SONY VL-500S complete with VL-5 cartridge pre-mounted.

(216.5 is stamped inside; but why? It's because the total length of the effective tonearm from the rear pivot point to the tip of the diamond is supposed to be 216.5mm)
Can also replace SONY X-4869-918-1 as found in the SONY PS-X55.
Can also replace SONY X-4869-912-0 (headshell only repair part with no wires or screws.)
Can also replace SONY 9-910-999-31

Headshell for PS-LX22

Exactly the right headshell for the PS-LX22. New life for this turntable, sounds so much better with an Ortofon Super OM-20 cartridge. Fast shipping from turntable needles. Recommended!

Sony headshell

Received quickly. Nicely contained in a plastic storage box. Perfect condition as if new. I now have the ability to quickly swap between cartridges based on the type of music I am listening to. Highly recommend turntableneedles for all your turntable needs. Will shop again

Sony Head Shell

I searched the internet and found Turntableneedles.com and found the head shell I needed to replace my old one that had a broken female wire. I placed my order, and after a couple of days, received my head shell. At first inspection, it was identical with my original, then I noticed it had the same broken wife coupling of my old one! Weird...So I called the company, they sent another one with a return envelope, and I sent the defective head shell back.
